Cooking quinoa

Hello everyone!

A week ago I went for groceries and I stumbled upon quinoa(pronounced keen-wa). I've heard many good things about this grain, such as:

- it is a superfood,
- it is a very good source of protein,
- it is high in fiber, calcium, magnesium and iron,
- it is gluten-free,
- it has all of the required amino acids which help us build muscle mass.

So, I tried it out for lunch. I roasted some paprika, zucchinni and chicken, boiled the quinoa for 15 minutes and voilá, here's a tasty, healthy lunch. It was really good, too! It tastes a lot like rice, only it's smaller. 2013 is the international year of quinoa, by the way, so let's celebrate and get cooking! ;)

Summer ponytail hairstyle

Hello everyone!

Here's a hairstyle I just love for hot, sweaty summer days. I comb my hair in a high ponytail and to 'chic it up' I roll a lock of my hair around the elastic band and fix it with a bobby pin underneath the ponytail, so that the elastic band and the bobby pin don't show. I used to be so clumsy with this hairstyle, but practice makes perfect! And it looks really nice, especially when I wear it with a blouse or an open back dress. :)

Banana-yum breakfast!

Today was one of those days when classes were cancelled. This meant sleeping in and making myself a delicious breakfast! I'm a total pancake lover and I've recently tried the 'two ingredient' pancakes. Two ingredients? You got that right, all you need to make these are two eggs and a banana! I actually made this with only one egg and a half of a larger banana, because that was all I got in my kitchen. :) All you have to do is mash the banana, add the egg(s), mix them together to make some sort of pancake batter. You don't have to add any flour, salt or sugar. When you have the batter, put it in a pan. I usually work with a small pan and put two big spoons in, so that I can make two small pancakes at a time. I've had problems with pans, because sometimes you have trouble flipping them over, but I found out that it easiest to flip them very slowly. If you'll still have problems, just try another pan, that's what I did. I added some warm cherries and chopped almonds in the end and it was sooo good! :)

I used the other half of the banana to make a 'PB banana sandwich', which was also super tasty and easy to make: just cut the banana in half, add some peanut butted and sprinkle some chopped almonds over it. :)

What you'll need:
1 banana
1-2 eggs
chopped almonds
warm cherries, blueberries, raspberries, any fruit you want
peanut butter

The time is now!

Well, it's raining again, which means I'm avoiding doing important schoolwork by watching TV shows, cooking and spending my time on the internet. Here's an outfit I would looove to wear for a fancy dinner date or to the premiere of The Great Gatsby (Are you guys as excited as I am?!). I absolutely loved the book, I even did a seminar paper on it in one of my English grammar classes and I'm super excited to see the movie. Leonardo DiCaprio should get an Oscar just for looking as good as he does playing Jay Gatsby, I mean seriously, he's perfect for the role. Anyways, I hope you're more productive than me in this awful weather!
